Coca-Cola cake

Just a few months ago, I visited the US. And besides all the sightseeing and fun things I did, I loved trying out all the local foods and delicacies.
So when I found this recipe online the other day, I just had to try it out.

This Chocolate Coca-Cola cake is supposed to be a southern delicacy and one thing is for sure, it definitely is delicious!

What you need to do:

Preheat the oven to 350.
In a bowl mix
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2tsp salt
1tsp baking powder
1/2tsp cinnamon

Next, use a nice saucepan to mix the following ingredients over medium high heat. Stir it up well until it boils. it should get a hot coco look and smell.
1 cup butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup coca-cola
1/2 cup buttermilk

When it boils, take it off the heat and pour into the flour mix. Whisk until it becomes a smooth mixture.

Then add and mix good:
2 eggs
1tsp vanilla extract

Grease up your baking tin. I like to use a stick of butter for this. For this cake I used a brownie tin. When greased up, pour in the mixture.

You can put your cake in the oven now. Bake for about 35/40 min. If necessary leave a little longer under strict supervision. Toothpick should come out clean.

When your cake is almost ready, you can make the glaze. Mix the following ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup Coca-Cola

When it boils, remove from heat and slowly mix in 4 cups of confectioners’ sugar until you get a nice smooth glaze.

When you get your cake out of the oven, pour the glaze right over the top of the hot cake!
You have to let it set and cool for a few minutes before you dig in 😉
Eat it warm or cold, I bet you’ll enjoy it ether way. If you’d like you can heat it up in the microwave when you want to eat it the next day.

Mine came out De-li-cious! Hope you enjoy it too!

Where I got my inspiration:

Little Baker

So, I love baking. Not cooking, no, baking. We’re talking about cookies, cupcakes, muffins, pies, crumbles, desserts and so on.
I have this thing where I love to please people. Surprise them. In this case with delicious baked goodies. When the time comes i’m sending out signals that i’m going to bake something, or that i have a baking urge, my family, friends or co-workers already can’t wait for the treat. Most of the time I don’t even eat these baked goodies myself. It’s just that I love the baking part more than the eating part, but what i love most is other people enjoying my baked goodies. I don’t mind there being no left-overs, since that means it tasted great!

I often search the internet for inspiring recipes.  Since a couple of weeks I discovered Pinterest. Oh my, there is so much to find there. I just love it and I have to say i’m a Pinterest addict already!

Around the holiday season I am always just a tad more in the baking mood. For thanksgiving the options with pumpkin are endless. For winter season you have all these cinnamon things and then comes christmastime and the varieties are endless. It’s just all so inspiring.

Long story short, I love to bake. And I love to find and try out new recipes. No doubt you will find these try-outs here every once in a while.
